Context

The latest update to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species reveals that climate change poses a threat to numerous species, including Atlantic salmon and green turtles.

The IUCN, or International Union for Conservation of Nature, is a leading global organization working on nature conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.

Mission:

  • To influence, encourage and assist societies throughout the world to conserve nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable.

Structure:

  • Membership Union: Government and civil society organizations from around the world join the IUCN, providing a platform for collaboration and action.
