The “PM-eBus Sewa” scheme, approved by the Indian Cabinet, aims to bolster urban transportation by introducing 10,000 Electric Buses through a PPP model.

  Aim

It aims to enhance urban transportation efficiency and promote Environment-

Friendly Practices focusing on enhancing city bus services and promoting environmentally-friendly practices.

Target Population and Unreached Areas

  1. The scheme will encompass cities with population of three lakh and above, based on the 2011 census
  2. This comprehensive approach includes all Capital cities of Union Territories, regions in the North  Eastern part  of  the  country, and hilly
  3. A significant highlight of the scheme is its focus on cities lacking organized bus services, making it an effort to bridge the urban mobility

 Significance

  1. Direct employment opportunity surge, with an estimated  range  of 45,000 to 55,000
  2. Boosting E-Mobility
  3. Contributes to the reduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission
  4. Aligns with Sustainable Development Goal
