Key Highlights of the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit (P20) in New Delhi on October 13, 2023:

• Gratitude to Australia: The Lok Sabha Speaker thanked Australia for supporting India’s priorities and initiatives during the G20 Summit. Australia’s backing for India’s African Union inclusion initiative was
  acknowledged.
• Bilateral Relations: India and Australia recognized the deepening of bilateral relations and emphasized the need for increased parliamentary cooperation between the two nations.
• India-Bangladesh Cooperation: The Speaker discussed strengthening cooperation between the Parliaments of India and Bangladesh, citing increased connectivity in sectors like road, rail, air, waterways, and digital
  infrastructure.
• Global Initiatives: Initiatives like the ‘Global Biofuel Alliance’ and the ‘India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor’ were highlighted, strengthening India’s relationship with the UAE and opening avenues for further collaboration.
• About P20 (Parliament-20):
• Establishment: P20, or Parliament-20, was established during the G20 Presidency of Canada in 2010.
• Purpose: P20 serves as a platform for discussions and collaborations among Parliamentary Speakers and presiding officers from G20 countries and invitee nations, allowing them to recognize international collaboration efforts and address emerging global issues.
• Location: The 2023 P20 conference was organized in New Delhi, India.
• Theme: The theme for the 2023 P20 conference is ‘Parliaments for One Earth, One Family, One Future,’ emphasizing global unity and shared responsibility toward the planet and its inhabitants.
• Session Topics: The conference includes sessions on critical topics such as ‘Transformation in People’s Lives through Public Digital Platforms,’ ‘Womenled Development,’ ‘Accelerating SDGs’ (Sustainable Development Goals), and’Sustainable Energy Transition.’
