RMNCAH+N Strategy
The RMNCAH+N strategy stands for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition. It’s a global framework established to address health issues affecting women, children, and adolescents. The “+” symbol signifies the crucial role of nutrition in achieving optimal health outcomes for these groups.
The core objectives of the RMNCAH+N strategy are:
- Reduce preventable maternal mortality and morbidity
- Reduce preventable newborn mortality and morbidity
- Reduce preventable child mortality and morbidity
- Promote the health and well-being of adolescents
- Improve nutritional status for women, children, and adolescents
The strategy outlines a comprehensive approach that encompasses various intervention areas, including:
- Family planning and sexual and reproductive health
- Antenatal care, skilled birth attendance, and postnatal care
- Immunizations and other essential child health services
- Nutrition interventions, including breastfeeding promotion and micronutrient supplementation
- Adolescent health services, including mental health services
