RMNCAH+N Strategy

The RMNCAH+N strategy stands for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition. It’s a global framework established to address health issues affecting women, children, and adolescents. The “+” symbol signifies the crucial role of nutrition in achieving optimal health outcomes for these groups.

The core objectives of the RMNCAH+N strategy are:

  • Reduce preventable maternal mortality and morbidity
  • Reduce preventable newborn mortality and morbidity
  • Reduce preventable child mortality and morbidity
  • Promote the health and well-being of adolescents
  • Improve nutritional status for women, children, and adolescents

The strategy outlines a comprehensive approach that encompasses various intervention areas, including:

  • Family planning and sexual and reproductive health
  • Antenatal care, skilled birth attendance, and postnatal care
  • Immunizations and other essential child health services
  • Nutrition interventions, including breastfeeding promotion and micronutrient supplementation
  • Adolescent health services, including mental health services
