Jeevan Rekha Express
Jeevan Rekha Express is a special train service in India, also known as the “Lifeline Express.” It’s the world’s first hospital on wheels, launched in 1991 as a joint initiative by Indian Railways and the Impact India Foundation. The goal is to bring free medical care to remote and underserved rural areas.
The train is equipped with operation theaters, diagnostic tools, and medical staff who perform surgeries, treatments, and consultations directly on board. Services include cataract surgeries, cleft lip repairs, orthopedic operations, and more.
Jeevan Rekha Express is a symbol of innovation in healthcare delivery, using India’s vast rail network to literally carry medical help to the doorstep of those who need it most.
